A little piece of relaxation and serenity
After searching for accomodation around Avignon we found these apartments on Booking.com, it was a late booking, relatively speaking, and we were lucky to secure one. After a conversation with the owner, as both of us are allergic to animals, we were able to proceed with the booking and boy was I glad we did - it was the little bit of peace that we were both in need of. We took the train (Eurostar - in the height of summer go direct to Avignon centre) direct to Avignon TGV and the accomodation isn't too far away. Around 2 miles or so. When we arrived, Peter was there to meet us and show us around the place, it was just so quiet with the balcony on the edge of the Lake and the serenity of the Koi Carp swimming around. The open plan lounge and kitchen has been very well designed, I too note there has been comments about IKEA... nothing wrong with that. It has been tastefully chosen and designed and you can see there is a keen eye for detail in how the owner wants the feel of the property to achieve. The bedrooms were comfortable and being north facing, they were cool in the evenings. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a large rain-shower head, so refreshing. Everything was clean, well kept and again, relaxing. Outside the apartment provided for ample parking should you wish to hire a car - we did not. There is a small play area for children and the pool area was lovely. An 18m length pool which was refreshing for a cool down out of the warm, late September sun. I took advantage of this pool for my triathlon training :) - (keen cyclists - Mont Ventoux is all of 20 ish miles away!!) The accomodation is close to local ammenities, a bakery about 500m away or a small (yet contained everything you needed) carrefour market around 1km away - I will warn you, it is uphill but did not bother us as we are normally active and don't mind a walk. If you've got a car this market has a car park. Avignon centre-ville is around 2km walk away with a bus service to take you in and back about 400m away. No need to take the car! Peter, the owner, is lovely and takes great pride in his place - he also wants you to have the best stay in such a lovely region so is always on hand should any assistance, or advice be required. Thank you for all your help! The apartment gave us a much needed break after a busy year, this showed itself as, although we spent a few days out and about, most evenings we would be found sat on the balcony with a book and a glass of something. The peace, quiet and zen of the place brought so much calm. C'est parfait :)!! Merci pour votre hospitalité. 16 09 16
