Krestena estate is an ideal destination to spend some time with your family and friends over your summer break and get away for a while from your busy daily routines! During your stay, you will swim in the blue waters of the Greek sea, sunbathe and relax on the fantastic golden sandy beaches, have bright stars take your breath away during nighttime, and get to enjoy famous Greek delicacies at various local typical Greek taverns ! You will also have the opportunity to go on lovely excursions in the numerous gorgeous forest mountains and green valleys found near our house, as well as visit numerous adjacent well-known historical cities and attractions of Peloponnese. The estate has an exceptional geographical location as it is close to the worldwide known Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games! The main house and the two independent guest houses are located in a 16 stemmata estate (4 acres), and are built on a peaceful hill full of olive trees, cypress trees, and a beautiful pine tree forest that will leave you in awe. If you are 4 guests you will be staying at the main house which has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second one with two twin beds. There is also a shared bathroom, a kitchen and a living room/dining room area. If you are 5 or 6 guests you will be using an additional guest house which is located 30 meters from the main house and has a bedroom (sleeps 2) and an en suite bathroom. If you are 7 or 8 guests you will be staying at the second additional guest house which is also located 30 meters from the main house and has a bedroom (sleeps 2) and a en suite bathroom. The spacious terrace outside the main house, with a dining room area and two lounge areas, is the ideal place to either enjoy your breakfast/lunch/dinner or just relax in the sitting area while listening to the sound of birds and cicadas, as it offers a breathtaking astonishing view of our lovely property and of large mountains covered with green forests. If you are a lover of star gazing, that terrace is THE place to be at night!!! Closest village and town Krestena village is 300m. from our house. This small picturesque village contains local supermarkets where you will be able to do your everyday shopping, pharmacies,bank,and cafes. The nearest town is Pyrgos, 25 km. away from Krestena where you can find banks, a post office, ATM machines, doctors, dentists, pharmacies and the local market with numerous shops, supermarkets, hairdressers, cafes, bars, taverns and restaurants. How to arrive in Krestena : ¥ From the Athens Eleftherios Venizelos airport the distance is 280 km away, approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes drive. ¥ From the bus station in Kifissos in Athens, there is frequent bus service directly to Krestena. ¥ From Patras’ port the distance is 109 km by car. ¥ From Kalamata international airport the house is 107 km away by car. ¥ Araxos airport is a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive away. Places to visit around Krestena Krestena can constitute the base of daily excursions, all year round, to many beautiful places well worth a visit. Ancient Olympia is about 14 km. away from Krestena. The route to get there is very beautiful, as you will constantly be surrounded by an endless green landscape and will also get to witness the famous Alfios river. The ancient Olympic Games started in this town the 3rd century BC. The Archaeological Museum of Olympia houses significant exhibits of unique value, amongst them the famous statue of Hermes of Praxiteles. ¥ Kato Sammikos, Kaiafas and Kakovatos. These three are beaches, 10’-20’ away drive from the house and are part of a long 170km beautiful sandy beach that stretches across the west coast of the Peloponnese from Killini to Filiatra and overlook the Ioanian Sea. With a choice of numerous beaches, you can visit a different gorgeous beach every day! ¥ The area of Kaiafas - 12 km. away - hosts one of the most beautiful natural surroundings witnessed by the human eye! It is known for its magnificent and unique ecosystem, which includes a large lake where water-ski competitions regularly take place, the amazing pine forest of Strofylia, a 4 km long golden sandy beach, with clear blue waters, everyone rushes to swim in during the hot summer days and the worldwide known thermal springs. The thermal springs of Kaiafas is a geological formation that consists of a spring where warm water comes out from deep inside the Earth's crust and flows up to the surface. The spring is located inside a naturally formed cave in the foot of the Lapithas mountain. ¥ Andritsena temple of Apollo (22km), built by Iktinos who was also the architecture of the Parthenon in Akropolis, Athens. ¥ Beautiful villages like Kyparisia (45km) and Karitena (50km) with its famous must-see stone bridge and medieval castle. ¥ River Neda waterfalls, one of the natural Greek paradises, break into foam and whiten while the aged tall trees compose a magnificent and fascinating landscape. It is a 56 km. drive away from our house.
