Description and whereabouts Placed in the heart of a small agricultural village in the depths of France, my family’s house of origin is located in Champagne in the Aube valley. The Le Chêne village is 25 km. out of the medieval city of Troyes, origin of the Templars and the Compagnons, the artisans who built the gothic cathedrals in the 13th-15th century. The landscapes are pleasantly undulate, open, with long fields, far away from the noise and the bustle of the cities. The house has been restored in the Champagne style, with hammer-beamed roofs, oak parquets and soft colours that remember the front of the medieval houses in the city of Troyes . It offers three rooms at the first floor and a great penthouse at the second floor, with reserved access. In the house you can dispose of a hydromassage room and of wi-fi connection for your computer. In the barn at the bottom of the courtyard, our guests have access to a great kitchen with a dining area (36 sq. m) where they can prepare and/or take meals. Why “RACINES”? In a period in which everything is moving, decomposing and recomposing with acceleration, we need to find and consider the importance of our origins, our traditions, our genealogy, our forgotten ancestral links, that continue to live inside of us, although it is often unknown. After 30 years of life and work out of France, coming back to the village where we were born was so rich in lessons we would like to share with our guests. SEASON OPENING FROM THE 1ST OF JUNE TO THE 15 OF SEPTEMBER The activities in the area -on place: foot and cycle walks, “rabbit safari” for children; -the surrounding area: aquatic centre (swimming pools, sauna, hammam) at 3 kilometres, with expected opening at the beginning of 2011); horses walks and equitation at 20 km.; ULM flights and initiation to parachutism at 25 km.; tipical villages, “pan de bois” churches; local second hands markets and country feasts in the summer. -at 25 km.: the Troyes city, with its historical centre from the Middle Ages, with reently restored “colombage” houses, its little streets for people on foot, its unique property of stained glass windows of the 16th century, its rich museums, its gastronomy, its musical and cultural events. At the Troyes entry, there is an outlet with 240 shops (from fashion to products for the house). - at 30 km.: the great lakes of the Orient forest and of the Der, with their beaches, their ornithologic observatory, their walks by foot, by horse or by bicycle in the forest. -at 40 km.: the zone of production of Champagne wines, with the circuit of visits to the cellars of the wine producers with wine tasting (Cotes de Bar), and also visits to the great houses where Champagne is produced in Eperney and Reims. -at 50 km.: the family attraction park “Nigloland”, placed in a marvellous natural context. -at 150 km.: Paris, rapidly accessible by train(1hour and 20 minutes), so as by the highway. Before entering in Paris, you can find the biggest attraction park in Europe, Disneyland.
