The harmonious composition of the lushly green mountain and the blue sea of the Aegean, soft bed sheets, birdsongs, the aroma of baking bread, gurgling waters, the table-served breakfast of local specialties, the scent of flowers, the gathering of nuts and herbs, authentic homey hospitality, the sweetest fresh fruit, exploring emerald beaches, buildings made of locally available stone and wood, cobblestone paths, the plentiful harvest of mushrooms, walks through the forest, workshops on mushroom collecting. This is the Mt. Pelion Experience offered by the AMANITA Guesthouse.
AMANITA GuesthouseWe created the AMANITA Guesthouse in stately Tsagarada in a prime location between the mountain and the sea, on the eastern slopes of Mt. Pelion.
Behind it rises the much-sung-about Mt. Pelion, with its thick shady trees and flowing waters. The bright blue of the Aegean Sea stretches as far as the eye can see, dotted with the Northern Sporades islands that gleam like crown jewels. All around is the verdant natural beauty of Tsagarada with its renowned paths, centuries-old trees, old stone fountains and bridges.
The AMANITA Guesthouse, Tsagarada, Pelion consists of two buildings: the three-storey main house and a two-storey outhouse. We offer 6 accommodation options, 5 of which are located in the main house (2 suites consisting of 2 rooms, 1 three-bed room and 2 double rooms), and a self-contained, fully fitted 2-room apartment with its own kitchenette in the outhouse.
The main house has two sitting areas, a breakfast room and a professional kitchen. All rooms come with an authentic Mt. Pelion fireplace apart from the 2 ordinary double rooms.
We attach particular importance to introducing you to local cuisine. That's why the breakfast we serve includes hand-kneaded bread, homemade jams and local specialties such as pies, herb omelettes and seasonal fruit.
The AMANITA Guesthouse takes advantage of its location in Tsagarada and its proximity to a network of trails to organise a number of activities, depending on the season. The area around the AMANITA Guesthouse is ideal for trekking amid the magnificent natural environment, no matter what the season.
At the AMANITA Guesthouse, we love wild mushrooms, and we would like to introduce our guests to their secrets. We lead a mushroom hunt with a gastronomic conclusion. On theme weekends focusing on mushrooms, we will introduce you to penny buns, black porcini, parasol mushrooms, and Caesar's mushrooms, as well as the inedible varieties, or "crazy mushrooms".
During these mushroom forays, we hike up the mountain Pelion and into the chestnut and beech forest to hunt around under the trees and shrubs for mushrooms so we can identify and photograph as many species as possible.
From spring through autumn, Mt Pelion is full of indigenous and cultivated gastronomic treasures: tender shoots (black bryony, wild asparagus, ferns, terebinth), edible wild greens, aromatic herbs (oregano, sage), therapeutic flowers (St John's wort, elderberry), cherries, sour cherries, wild raspberries, plums, greengages, apples, pears, quince, grapes, persimmons, walnuts and chestnuts.
At the AMANITA Guesthouse, Tsagarada, we jump at the chance to teach our guests about collecting and using these tasty treasures. We make sure to gather them on our treks and walks and use them as part of our breakfast fare.
Our aim is to gain a "Pelion experience" during your stay in Amanita guest house, so that your visit here will not be just a chance to meet the enchanting environment, the sea or the forest and the culinary culture of Pelion but also your active participation in activities that will enrich your experiences and feelings.
