The Lost Unicorn Hotel is situated overlooking the square of Agia Paraskevi in Tsagarada, famed for its ancient and very large plane tree. The beautiful neo-classical mansion was built in 1890. Now it is owned and run by Clare and Christos, who have extensive experience in hospitality and bring a unique British/Greek feel to this small hotel. Furnished with antiques from Greece, England and America, there is a comfortable library, well-equipped with books, board games and cards, a record player and satellite TV. Also downstairs, you will find a small honesty bar in the elegant drawing room and in the dining room a Victorian fireplace and baby-grand piano. Outside is a terrace, filled with flowers in the summer months, with tables and chairs around a small fountain and under the vine-covered pergola. Refreshments are available to hotel residents throughout the day. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. There are a couple of resident cats and a small dog in the hotel, and you might be lucky enough to meet one of the larger dogs who live in a separate area at the back of the building. The Lost Unicorn Hotel occupies an 19th-century mansion at the central square of Tsagarada. It is furnished with antiques and its rooms have private bathrooms and balconies. Upstairs there are eight double/twin rooms all with modern ensuite bathrooms (shower, washbasin, WC). The rooms are not large but are comfortably furnished and equipped with all modern conveniences – such as tea and coffee making facilities, small fridge, safe, flat screen TV, telephone, hairdryer, central heating. The six rooms on the first floor have small balconies, the two rooms on the top floor have air conditioning and access to the roof. The Lost Unicorn features a restaurant with velvet chairs and chandeliers. The hotel also features a library and games’ room where guests can relax and enjoy traditional afternoon tea.The beaches of Mylopotamos and Damouhari are just a ten minutes’ drive away. There are many beautiful regions all over Greece, but none can be compared to the unique and stunning region of the Pelion peninsula. Pelion is a mountainous peninsula with the Aegean Sea to the east and the almost landlocked Pagasitic Gulf to the west. Mount Pelion with an altitude of 1600 metres, offers skiing during the winter months and spectacular sea views. Its foothills are covered with magnificent chestnut and plane trees. During the spring and summer, olive groves and orchards of apples and pears create a green backdrop to the unspoilt beaches and fishing villages of the Aegean coast. The cascading waterfalls and natural spring water from the mountains keep the area lush and green all year round. There are twenty-four traditional mountain villages, with rich cultural history and unique architectural style kept intact and unspoilt, thanks largely to the remarkable cultural awareness of the locals. This is where the Greeks come for their holidays. Legend has it that Pelion was the region of Greece chosen by the ancient gods for their weddings and celebrations. Jason and the Argonauts departed from the port of Volos on their quest to find the Golden Fleece. Here the Centaurs, half men-half horses, galloped after the nymphs on the fresh green slopes. The spectacular scenery of the Pelion Peninsula makes this easy to imagine. Local Attractions The mountain villages of Pelion – 24 villages of Pelion each with its own distinctive character The beaches of Pelion – lovely beaches ranging from sandy strands to rocky coves Visit the ski slopes of Agriolefkes and the resort of Hania Walking and trekking – from tough walks through the mountains to picturesque strolls through the village squares, many walks using the ancient stone-paved mule tracks. The Pelion Railway – from Ano Lehonia to Milies.
