Tucked away in the northwest section of the Medieval City, just off Ippodamou street and opposite the Hamsa Bei Mosque, the Zacosta Villa Hotel provides "luxurious lodgings" in a unique environment. It is a short walk from Socratous street, the Knights Castle, and the many museums, restaurants and stores in the Old Town. We have gone to great lengths to achieve a balance of "understated luxury" friendly service and warm hospitality. THE NAME The Villa Hotel was named after Pier Raymond Zacosta a Grand Master in the Medieval City (1461-1467) of Spanish origin and who was in charge of the defenses of the Medieval City. The colors orange and yellow that are in the Zacosta logo are also from his Coat of Arms while the Cross of Malta and the Fleur de lis are two symbols that link the Zacosta to the Knights that once occupied the Medieval City. ZAC-ART Throughout the Zacosta you will find small touches that brighten ones stay. There are a variety of pieces that have been put together to add something special to the Zacosta. The pieces are so varied and some make you wonder how they relate to the Zacosta or even the Medieval City, but one common thread is that they are all related to the Zacosta, the Medieval City, the Aegean or the owner. We have pieces of African art (soapstone and wood carvings) from Zimbabwe, where the owner grew up, the original deeds of the property from the Land Registry that was created during the Italian occupation of Rhodes (1912-1945), a ceramic work of art from the collection “Nissia” by Maro Kerasioti the owners aunt and a renowned ceramist who was commissioned for the art work that graces the Marousi Station Metro stop , framed lithographs of scenes from Rhodes and many other works that we are continually adding to.
