Let’s imagine this to be a letter of introduction to a piece of dream work. This is because so many of my guests feel they need to know what to expect when on their way to this unspoilt piece of the land of Kefalonia, or Cephalonia as I prefer to call it. I was lucky enough to come from venues of families that have been travelers to the world of beauty ever since the 1890s. My favourite past time in childhood was wondering through magnificently written postcards, trunks of lacey dresses, manuscripts of verse and poems, collections of watches and jewelry. Faithful to the family tradition I traveled throughout the world and savoured the best of human joys: knowledge and tastes!!

The Boutique Hotel “George Molfetas”
The building itself is a work of masonry constructed before 1895, comprising of a main body of 6 large rooms. The walls are still 60 cm thick, the doors and windows feature massive stone framings, the lines are clear-cut and have the same proportions as at the time when they were designed. The only things that have been changed are elements that promote luxury, technology and superstructure. As the project was financed by the European Community funds for the redevelopment of traditional buildings of high environmental value, all care has been placed in the best possible maintenance and re-enforcement of the building itself. All rooms have been fitted with private bathrooms with either baths or jet-showers. The central heating is backed up by wood burners in four of the rooms and air conditioners in all rooms. All furniture is authentic, hand made work of craftsmanship of times ranging from 1790 to 1950. Persian rugs have been brought from the far east from several members of the owners families and Murano chandeliers were brought all the way from Smyrne and Venice. However special care has been taken also to provide the best possible technology for our guests’ convenience and enjoyment.
The "Possada" Restaurant
Possada as referred in an early poem of George Molfetas, meant a patrons estate house as well as a table set in great ceremony and style. Along with those characteristics besides the exclusive environment and the collectors pieces used to ornate our setting,we have included genuine home cooked food, prepared with the best organic produce of the island. Along these lines we do not only cook as our grandparents used to do, we can arrange teaching sessions for our guests on how to cook local specialties. As part of this activity we have arranged that our guests can accompany a fishing boat for lobster day fishing . If so interested, guests can be arranged to be driven to a hunting farm not more than 20 km away from the hotel, or be driven to traditional wineries for sampling Kefalonian wines. A traditional oil press operating in the village can be visited during the months of November to late January while the near by pastures where some of our products come from, can be viewed at any time. During winter, our open fireplace will keep us company along with the occasional chorus and guitar players, while for the summer our garden next to the open spa will be the setting for the evening meals.
Amenities
Free Internet access, cd- player in all rooms, mini fridge, safe, hair dryer and mastic-spa organic cosmetics. Our services include also 24hour reception, Room Service and daily chambermaid. A Lanerholm Finn Sauna and a Coleman open Spa are available for extra tranquility. Pick-up service can be provided as well as personalized excursions to explore the “off the beaten track” magical sights of Kefalonia. On request there are horseback riding schools, a hunting farm and two scuba diving schools for exploring the historical Ionian Sea. Hairdresser, massage and reflectiologist appointments can be also arranged at prior notice.
As the size of the hotel is almost the size of a family house, we can welcome functions such as weddings, engagements, family reunions, friends or colleagues needing some time together, executive meetings in an absolutely private environment, people in need to put things “right” in a world of upheaval and turmoil, romantic couples who would like to share long walks in mountain tracks or isolated beaches, all with the best of our attendance, care and carefully arranged plans for unfailing peace of mind. After all, when we decided that a venture such as this is the only entrepreneurship that would make us as happy as our guests, we had already been travelers of the world ourselves and guests to the most celebrated hotels of central Europe. We have been trained to spoil you through experience and education. We are therefore looking forward to doing so.
